KAIKATSU 18 Year Old is the distillery’s flagship single malt — eighteen years of patient maturation in a whisky of real gravitas. The nose is deep and contemplative: dark honey, fig and date, polished oak and a wisp of sandalwood. The palate is full and unhurried, layering dried stone fruit and bittersweet cocoa over old leather and warm baking spice, before a remarkably long, resonant finish that fades through oak and toasted tannin. This is a collector’s expression — measured, complex and built for slow, deliberate appreciation rather than mixing.
How to enjoy: Serve neat at room temperature in a Glencairn or copita glass, with only a few drops of water to coax out the deeper aromatics; reserve it for the end of the evening.
